About the Album

  • The Omnitones (Self Titled) is the bands first EP. The entire record was written and recorded in Tantillo’s home studio in the Chicago Suburbs. This EP features 3 singles — Deep End, Sasquatcher and Midnight Snack. Tantillo came in with a huge backlog of songs and the band whittled it down to 5 songs. The band at the time had never written or played together, but saw eye to eye on song concepts and overall sound. The Omnitones released their EP on October 31st 2024 and also included 5 music videos.

  • Sasquatcher is mainly about Tantillo's close friend who is known for his Sasquatch like antics. But, it also explores themes such as the Oedipus complex, nonconformity, and the sexual revolution's impact on modern online dating. By using the Sasquatch mythos, the song challenges conventional views on love and questions the legitimacy of the Sasquatch legend—drawing parallels to the struggles faced by those who don’t fit social norms.

  • Yawhooligans is a song about a generations frustration with the American school systems decline. Tantillo wrote themes around conflicting learning styles, aimless curriculums, over priced tuitions, racially biased ACT tests, the varsity blues scandal and the lack of care from tenured teachers. Tantillo named the song after Yahooligans, a popular kids educational website, to create the time piece around Millennials.

  • Midnight Snack is about longing and loneliness, inspired by a long-distance relationship. Tantillo had pitched different versions of this song to previous bands, but it never seemed to click. But with The Omnitones, they quickly picked up the feel and completely reinvented the song. Due to the fast-paced writing process, Tantillo never had the chance to write a second verse, so they ended up repeating the first verse throughout the song to create the feel of one continuous, chant-like chorus.

  • Deep End was originally a demo that the band made in one sitting and found it’s way onto Bandcamp as an unofficial release. The band realized they loved the demo so much it was better to just add it to the EP and remix it. Deep End is about the aftermath of a car crash that led into a bittersweet separation, to pick up the pieces apart and cope with the trauma.

  • Imperfections is an autobiographical song about Catholic guilt and Tantillo's upbringing in catholic school where he questions his beliefs, his departure from Catholicism and his growth away from it.
